LL, items you buy at K-mart may be consumable items, like toilet paper, and/or are NOT made by K-mart. that are not specific items that you could only get from the MFG, if they went under. In other words, most items sold at K-Mart do not require the same type of parts support required on a PPC purchase. It's like paraplane parts are very difficult to get, which makes used paraplanes less desirable on the used market, even though it is a good flying single seat PPC. If you tell someone looking at a used paraplane the reality of parts, should you bend something on the air frame. I have had people show an interest in my paraplane trainer plane, and though I would consider selling it, I explain this to every potential purchaser so that they understand the realities involved. Besides, what has K-mart got to do with the PPC industry? It may be perceived by potential customers that since the original owner was Ralph Howard, now the owner is Butch Howard, what did they do, dump the 1st company, Buckeye Industries, start up another company under the other relative, called Buckeye Aviation. See the similarities? People in the business or current Buckeye owners may know what is going on, but when you're contemplating spending 10 grand or more, a customer who does not know, and only has the word of someone selling Buckeye, while they may trust them, (the dealer) they would still proceed with caution, because the customer will not know how much the dealer actually knows about the financial stability of the company. And, you may ask how would you know about the financial stability of any company? Well, you probably don't, but since this one has gone broke, and formed a new company, you have that to review. If a consumer goes BK, they will have trouble for several years getting credit, and in order to re-establish, they have to do it cleaner & better than everyone else. Tom answer LL's question if I would buy at K-mart, No. Not because of their financial situation, but because they're not located convenient to me, and t heir stores suck as a mass merchant. Target & Wal-Mart are where I shop when I need goods sold in that type of store, and they usually have what I want. If you have not flown every current PPC on the market, that statement is a bit of a stretch, isn't? > One concern I would have with getting a Buckeye is that since they have gone through some sort of a bankruptcy proceeding, to get one is like walking up to the fighter in the ring with your guard down after you have been hit on the chin and knocked down, and inviting another bust on the chops. While I expect you to say that they are strong, the proof will be in how they conduct future business, and how they make delivery of product to customers in a timely manner. > BTW, I am not slamming Buckeye, just asking a question that needs to be asked, and is one I asked myself as I look at all the major PPC's on the market, deciding which company I want to work with. > > Phil > > > > Post message: powerchutes@yahoogroups.com > Unsubscribe: powerchutes-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > List owner: Skyryder@mt.net > URL to this page: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/powerchutes Brian Lee: Skyryder@mt.net > Web Page: http://www.powerchutes.com > > > > Your use of Yahoo!
